Last updated: April 21, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how The Clean Startup (“we”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our service.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, chosen password, first name, and role (Founder or Partner). Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication; we receive an identifier, sign-in timestamp, and email from that service.
Profile content. Information you choose to publish on your profile, including goals, asks, milestones, and messages, is stored in Firebase Firestore.
Payment information. If you are a Founder paying a membership fee, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; we retain a token and the billing metadata Stripe provides.
Usage information. We collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and pages viewed to operate and secure the service.
3. How We Use Information
To operate the service, authenticate users, facilitate connections between Founders and Partners, process payments, communicate with you, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
4. How We Share Information
Other users. Profile information you publish is visible to other users of the service according to your settings.
Service providers. We share data with processors who operate the service on our behalf, including Firebase (Google), Stripe, and hosting/email providers. These processors are contractually restricted in how they may use your data.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and profile data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Some records may be retained to comply with legal, tax, or audit obligations.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit, Firebase security rules, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The service is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. International Users
The service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email.
